Healthy Iron Chefs Competition
Kitchen Stadium was staged in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on June 13, 2007 for an Iron Chefs competition of a different kind. Many in the group of adventurous participants knew little about the battle that awaited them. Yet, they packed their cooking and creativity skills, and fearlessly embarked on an experience designed for fun, as well as learning about teamwork and what it takes to prepare a healthy meal when faced with real-life food access and healthy eating issues that many at-risk communities encounter. With the help of teen chefs at the C’est si Bon Cooking School, participants were grouped in teams and competed to create recipes for a full course meal. Each of the teams had different challenges to overcome (see individual team pages for more information about the teams, their challenges and recipes) in their quest for the honor and title as Healthy Iron Chefs!

“Thank you for wading out into untested waters on this one. I had an absolute ball that evening, and found it to be a great ‘getting to know you’ and "bonding" exercise.”
