The Arrowhead Region is located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Minnesota, so called because of its pointed shape. The predominantly rural region encompasses about 18,000 square miles and comprises Carlton, Cook, Lake and St. Louis Counties. Aitkin, Itasca, and Koochiching Counties are also sometimes considered as part of the region.

Mission Statement

We are conducting this project in order to develop principles of active living that can be embraced by the communities of the region. We will do this by assessing the communities to learn their previous active living involvement, their capacity to enact future principals, and their current awareness of and interest in active living. We will increase their awareness by engaging them in the concept of active living. The principals we develop will be based on what we learn from the assessment and engagement process.
