Active Living Story
I came to Active Living By Design with minimal knowledge or experience around active living. As a recent graduate with a degree in business, however, I had the pleasure of working with Sarah Strunk at UNC Chapel Hill's Office of External Affairs. Sarah was in the process of co-creating the Active Living by Design National Program Office with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and she mentioned a position that sparked my interest. It was not completely defined and would require a leap of faith, but the experience ended up opening new doors and above all, raised my awareness about health and the importance of the environment and infrastructure in creating healthier lifestyles. I have been with ALBD since we opened our doors in 2002, and feel truly lucky to work with such an amazing, diverse, and collaborative group of people. I'm very hopeful that generations to come will benefit from our work.
